Insertion of Gallery on on WordPress.com free site

I’m trying to insert a single gallery page on my free WordPress.com blog, with the Simpla theme. I have about 20 pictures that have appeared through the blog that I’d also like displayed on a single page, in an orderly, ‘artistic’ manner. Links to where these pictures appeared in the blog would be nice, but not essential. I’ve figured out by now I can’t use plug-ins on this free blog. How is it done–or can it be done at all? Maybe I don’t even need a Gallery, but I do need an orderly array of pictures, about 4 across by 5 down, on a single page.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thank you for replying. I’ve followed your suggested link. I’m wondering if the problem may be that I’m working on a public computer, at the local public library. I get the message from WordPress when I work on these computers that my browser is outdated and, that, my WordPress experience is not ‘optimal’. I may have better luck setting up the gallery from my iPad–even if it would be a little finicky.

I think you’re right. There are a ton of issues with old browsers not working well with WP.com right now.

To find out if this was actually the case, I took my gallery project to the computer lab of a university I used to attend, where I have alumni computer privileges. Their computer system is completely up to date, and there are knowledgeable technicians available to provide assistance when necessary. It was VERY NECESSARY this time. The WordPress instructions for inserting a gallery in a wordpress.com blog DON’T WORK. Things that are supposed to be on the screen simply aren’t there. The technician who was helping me ended up writing some HTML code for me to create my gallery. Eventually, I did get my gallery.
