How do I insert or remove footer text? For instance, a copyright notice? Thanks.

Hi,
While there isn’t a way to modify the footer for Comet, you can add a Text widget to your sidebar in Appearance -> Widgets.
You can see an example of a copyright notice here:
Let me know if you have any other questions.

How do I get rid of a footer if I already have one? I really don’t want to have to go back and delete all those by hand :(

Are you referring to another one?
I do see that you’ve inserted some text in this post, so you’ll have to edit that one by clicking the Edit link at the bottom of the post.

Except for the two or three most recent posts, all of them have a copyright footer under my “real name.” I have changed over to writing anonymously, so I want to remove all the previous copyright footers, which do indeed show up automatically in this theme, so I would think that since they automatically show up there must be a “footer” option in this theme. I would hate to have to go back through each and every post and edit all the copyright notices…and then have to remember to change them in every future post!

Hi there, by any chance, are you referring to the comments on your blog that you previously left using your real name? When you change your display name, it does not apply retroactively to comments previously created. One thing that you can do is to go into Comments in your dashboard, use search to filter out those that mention your name, then use the “Quick Edit” function to manually change the display name on those.
Please note that this will not impact the comments you left on other blogs using your real name.

No, I am not referring to comments. As I have said above, I am referring to the COPYRIGHT NOTICE that appears beneath each post. Sorry for the solid caps, but I don’t seem to be communicating my point well. I do know how to edit text, and have done so since I changed my identity. I just want to know how to remove footer text in this theme. If that is not possible maybe what I need to do id change to a theme that permits footers in order to edit that function out?

Do you mean the line like, “by Survivor on October 22, 2012”?

That’s because I took it out manually, as I have said. If you look 3-4 posts back you will see the footer. Sorry I can’t post a link right now because i am on the mobile right at this moment. But if you look, say,4 posts back you will see it.

You manually added this to the bottom of your post, it was done automatically or via any other fancy means.
You can edit the post to remove it, or type it into any posts that don’t have it.

Like I have been saying, you have to look about 4 posts back to see what I am talking about. NOT the two or three most recent ones, which i edited manually, right. YOU HAVE TO LOOK ABOUT 4 POSTS BACK to see what I am talking about. Thanks.
