Instagram

    Goodday WordPress folk!
Today a collegue and me were working on making a free wordpress hosted website, and for the footer of our website we wanted 3 live feeds for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

We have gotten Facebook and Twitter to work as we want it too, but the Instagram widget refuses to authorize for some reason and either sends us to a white page that stops loading, or nothing at all. We’ve tried to do this on multiple computers and multiple browsers all with the same results.

The video tutorial you guys made, this part takes less then a second, so I doubt we’re not waiting long enough. Anyway, I hope this issue is a known issue and you’ll be able to help us out. Or maybe we managed to uncover some new issue. Either way I’d love to hear from you guys, have a good rest of your day.

    Kind regards,
    Simon

Make sure you are logged into Instagram when doing the widget set up.
The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:

    http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

    * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.

    http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php

Navigate to > Dashboard > Appreance > Widgets

    * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.

The Instagram widget allows you to display your latest Instagram photos in your site’s sidebar and the guide for setting up the only one that will work on a wordpress.COM hosted blog is here https://en.support.wordpress.com/instagram/instagram-widget/
    Also, note this support doc
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility

Is your Instagram account public? Or is is private, and therefore, blocked when it comes to display of images in the widget on your blog? And, are you logged in when authorizing it?

This particular widget needs to be authorized using the WP admin widget page rather than the customizer. If you go to Dashboard > Appearance> Widgets from the WP Admin dashboard and authorize the widget from there, you’ll have much better luck. Woah, amazing! I already had given up on trying to find the old wordpress interface I’m used to, and just couldn’t figure things out with the new dressed down interface. I thought it had to do with us using a free version and not having uploaded the website to a different business for hosting.

But thanks to you I managed to get to the interface I’m familiair with and in there the widget worked flawlessly without a hassle.

You made my life a lot easier,
    Very much appreciated.
