Instagram Post Not Displaying Properly on WordPress Site
-
Hello,
I am encountering an issue when embedding an Instagram post URL on my WordPress site. The post does not display properly on either desktop or mobile devices. Instead, it shows a rectangle with the Instagram logo and the message: “view this post on Instagram.”
https://lyceeinternationalmontessori.com/vie-des-ecoles-montessori-athena/I have tried various methods, including using blocks, embedded URLs, the Instagram block, HTML code, and shortcodes. However, none of these approaches have worked, and I consistently get the same result without the image or text from the post. Occasionally, the images and texts appear when refreshing the page, but this is not consistent.
Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution?
Thank you for your assistance.
P.S.: I am not the owner of the site. I am responsible for its SEO optimization. I have access to the back office, but I do not have access to the Instagram account settings. It will be difficult for me to connect a plugin to the Instagram account if the login credentials are required, and it is too complicated for my client.
I will check the forum for any responses as I will not be notified.
Thank you for your help.

I understand you’re encountering issues when embedding an Instagram post on your WordPress site. To assist you better, could you please share the following details:
- The link to the Instagram post you’re trying to embed.
- The link to the page on your website where you tried embedding the post.
Additionally, is this issue happening with only a single Instagram post, or have you noticed it with multiple posts?
Here’s a guide on how to embed an Instagram post on your website: Embedding Instagram Posts on WordPress.

Thanks for your answer.
I don’t try with multiple posts, because it isn’t the goal to publish multiple posts.
We want to be able to change one or two posts every week.
The page of the site, which is concerned :

Some posts :
https://www.instagram.com/p/C9O0G75N5mX/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
https://www.instagram.com/p/C9Eg8q6t2ZI/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
All posts which are not reel, on the Instagram counter.
On the website, on the bottom of the page which is concerned, we can see a post picture with a legend. It’s a solution I have proposed to my custom, but it’s to complicated for her.
The embed URL will be a nice solution. But, actually, it’s ugly without the display. -

I’m a bit stumped on this one to be honest. When I review this page in your account, I see the Instagram posts display both in the Editor and in the preview. Yet, when I visit the page as a “visitor” I too see the “View this post on Instagram” message.
When I test your Instagram posts on one of my test sites, they display correctly for me and for visitors to the site, in all browsers.
Let’s start with a systematic approach to see if we can get to the bottom of this.
First, can you please do all of the updates that are required on the site, found under My Home > Updates: https://cln.sh/RKBV7yJc and then test the page again.
If the Instagram posts still aren’t displaying properly, can you please do some plugin troubleshooting? This involves deactivating plugins one at a time and testing after each one. You can also use our Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin to test plugins without it affecting the live site. We have a guide on this process here: https://wordpress.com/support/plugins/solve-problems-with-plugins/
Please let us know if either of these steps resolve the issue. If they don’t, we can do some additional investigation.

Thank you for the suggestions to explore.
My son did mention the possibility of conflicts between plugins.
I will try this and get back to you.
See you soon.

I have updated all plugins and the theme.
Using the Health Check plugin, even with all plugins deactivated, the issue persists. Now, instead of “view the post on Instagram,” the post URL is displayed.
Do you have any other suggestions to resolve this issue? We thought it might be a loading problem since sometimes, after refreshing the page, the posts eventually display.

Thank you for trying this plugin troubleshooting. I am also a bit stumped by this behavior. It is important to remember we are trying to connect to a third-party service (Instagram) so it might not be 100% within our hands to fix this.
Here are a few other things I would check:
- Does the Instagram account setting allow for image embeds? If you are unsure, you can try embedding images from different Instagram accounts and see if the problem persists.
- If the problem persists with other Instagram accounts, I would consider using an alternative method for the embeds (for instance this plugin, or this one).
Please let us know if this helps!
