Instagram Visitors on Stats Page?

If someone is directed to your blog from Instagram, does WordPress.com log that as a visitor under your stats? Does Instagram show up as a “referrer?” I’ve tested this and it seems clicks from Instagram are ignored.

Hi Timethief, thank you for the tip, I added the tag for this thread. I wasn’t sure if this was an issue with my particular site, or just how WordPress operates in general.

It should log views referred by Instagram! Can you make sure you’re logged out of WordPress.com, and then try clicking on the link to your blog post from Instagram?
Bear in mind, your own views won’t be counted if you’re logged into WordPress.com.

I just tried this (by using the Instagram App), and it seems like the page view count DID go up, however there’s no reference in the “referrer” section to Instagram, so I wouldn’t know the click is from Instagram. Is this not possible since it’s a click from an App?

That’s right. We’ll count visits from the Instagram site or app, but only visits from the Instagram site will be listed in your referrers. At the moment, visits from apps won’t be listed in your referrers, but they’ll be counted.
