instagram widget

I can not get the instagram widget to work. I want to configure it so it would show my feed, but when I use the customizer and try to authorize access to my Instagram account I land on a blank page. If I try to refresh, it just goes back to the customizer. What am I doing wrong?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi
I am sure you followed the instructions in:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/instagram/instagram-widget/

    I noticed it says

First, add the Instagram Widget to your site without authorizing it.

That might could be what happened.

    Hi Dave,

I did follow the instructions. The thing is that I don’t get that instagram sign in pop up. I have disabled my ad/pop up blocker. I’m using chrome on a macbook pro.

Make sure you are logged into Instagram when doing the widget set up.
The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:

    http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

    * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.

    http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php

Navigate to > Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets

    * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.

The Instagram widget allows you to display your latest Instagram photos in your site’s sidebar and the guide for setting up the only one that will work on a wordpress.COM hosted blog is here https://en.support.wordpress.com/instagram/instagram-widget/
    Also, note this support doc
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility

Is your Instagram account public? Or is is private, and therefore, blocked when it comes to display of images in the widget on your blog? And, are you logged in when authorizing it?

This particular widget needs to be authorized using the WP admin widget page rather than the customizer. If you go to Dashboard > Appearance> Widgets from the WP Admin dashboard and authorize the widget from there, you’ll have much better luck. @dave2swords
I would like to make some suggestions re: answering support threads.

Understand that we volunteers select which threads we post into based on being convinced that we have a complete and correct answer prior to posting anything at all. Id we spot a thread we do not feel 100% convinced that we have a correct and complete answer for we subscribe to the thread and allow another more experienced volunteer or staff to answer it.

That approach ensures that the person who needs help hopefully gets the correct answer in the first response posted, so their time is not wasted and they do not become frustrated due to confusing back & forth exchanges.

Aside from being aware of the sticky post content at the top of the support forums, the first step of all for answering any support question that we think we have an answer for is to click the member link under the username of the person who needs support.

Doing that means we can spot and tag duplicate threads. It also gives us a heads up on how experienced the blogger may be, how many times they may have had the same issue in the past, and how it was resolved.

The second step is to locate relevant support docs. Support docs are living docs but they are not up to the minute and when there are widespread issues they may be useless.

The third step is forum tag searching and Google search. Doing those searches may reveal situations where there may be wide spread recent issues. (Tailgating experiences volunteers who frequently answer support threads may also do the same.) Example: justjennifer Example: timethief

Always be aware of the resource we have by simply using forum tag search. See here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/ then see here:
    authorize instagram
    instagram
    instagram widget

By using tag search and by using Google search prior to posting any support response volunteers can locate the most up to date information on any support topic.

    Best wishes.

P.S. Please forgive my minor typos. I use copy and paste answer for two good reasons. I am visually challenged and I struggle to read. I am also dyslexic.
