Instagram widget

How come Instagram isn´t a widget/plug-in option? I don´t know any serious blogger or business who isn´t on Instagram and I really need that feature to start the blog.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

There is indeed an Instagram widget. When you go into My Sites > Themes > Customize, you’ll find it under the Widgets menu, Widget Area > Add a Widget. Instagram should show up on the list there, in alphabetical order.

    Take a look here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/instagram/instagram-widget/

The link will take you to a topic that shows you how to add it to your site, and allowing WordPress.com authorisation to your WordPress.com account.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Geekinthegirl

Thank you sooo much! I found it, but I am having problems allowing access. When I hit the “Authorize Instagram access” button, nothing happens. I have tried doing it on both Firefox and Safari browser. They suggest to log in on your Instagram account if you´re having trouble, but that doesn´t help either. What can I do now?

    Sincerely, “nogeekinthisgirl”
    :-)

Hey — I’m having EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM. I’ve been trying to put the Instagram widget into my footer (http://belfiore.land) and it never succeeds when I click the Authorize Instagram button.

I was just coming to the forum now to post this question– I searched– and it looks like I’m not alone. Help! :)

Same here! Does it lead you to a white page with just some text on it? My guess from that is there is an outdated line of code within the Instagram widget that’s stopping the authentication from reaching the verification stage. I’m going to tag this thread with modlook so the staff can be notified and take a look at the widget code.

  • Hi folks, sorry this is giving you trouble. I haven’t yet been able to duplicate what youe’re describing.

Would each of you include a link to the site where you’ve tried to add the widget, and also, if possible, upload a screenshot of what you’re seeing? You can put it in the media library. Let us know when that’s done.

Also, if you’d like to try an alternate connection method, add the Instagram widget but do not attempt to connect it. Save your changes. Then, while viewing the site, click the configure link. If you can successfully connect there, let me know.

Actually — I just got it working by following the instructions on this forum thread: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/adding-widget-doesnt-show-up?replies=5#post-2516724

    thanks!

  • Cool. I’m going to go ahead and close this out, but if anyone else needs help, please start a new thread. Cheers!
