Instagram Widget Does Not Work Properly
-
Hello there,
I hope this message finds you well. Couple of days ago, Instagram widget malfunctioned on our website http://www.langaradigitalclub.com and has not been working properly ever since. I’ve tried to played with it but nothing really worked. It should be displaying 12 pictures in the footer but displays only 7. We would not be making a big deal out of it, but it just looks bad visually.
Thank you very much for your help.

I’ve been having similar problems to this, since yesterday evening when I first uploaded a set of images to Instagram using the new “slide show” feature.
The slide shows haven’t appeared in the widget – I’ve posted another slide show since – and as the OP said there was a “blank” in the array of thumbnails in the widget, ie for a 4 x 2 grid only 7 thumbnails would show.
As a workaround I’m currently using an Image widget linked to my Instagram page, but I’d much rather have the widget working as it did…

Hi there,
The problem is that Instagram does not provide a thumbnail we can show for the video items. To prevent a blank box showing where you have a video in a feed we need to skip the videos (also applies to galleries and posts), but if your widget settings tell us to fetch 12 items from Instagram, and 5 of those are non-image items, we only have 7 images to show.
Our developers are working on a fix for this, so you’ll need to be patient while we wait for that to finish.
I don’t see any Instagram widget on your site, https://northernteaist.com/, but looking at your Instagram feed I suspect it’s the same issue. The widget can’t show anything for slideshows, as Instagram does not provide us with a thumbnail which we can show. Our only option is to hide it, unless and until Instagram changes how this works on their end.

@kokkieh – Thanks for the reply. I removed the widget because of the display issues, but before I did I discovered another workaround, a real quick and dirty hack but it looks better than having “blanks”…
If you have 1 “blank” you can set the number of thumbnails to display in the widget to 1 more than you should see in the full array..i.e. if you have set the widget to display an 8 x 2 (16 total) array of thumbnails, and if you are seeing 1 blank then set the widget to display 17 thumbnails, and it will display the “correct” number of thumbnails.
I thought this must be down to the recent changes at the Instagram end. No worries, I’ll continue using that image widget linked to my Instagram feed for now… :)

That workaround could work, but only as long as you only have one “blank”, as it were. For people who use a mix of post types on Instagram that might not work. Thanks for sharing it, though.
This is being actively worked on, so hopefully it will be fixed soon.
