Instagram Widget Not Connecting
-
Hi,
I’m attempting to add the Instagram widget (by WordPress) to my blog, but I’m having trouble connecting my account. Can you advise on how I can fix this? I followed the video tutorial to no success.
This isn’t the widget that shows a small Instagram icon on your blog, nor is it the ‘latest Instagram posts’ widget. Both of those widgets are working fine for me and I’ve had no issues connecting those to my Instagram.

WP.com: Yes
Correct account: Yes -
To clarify, this is the Instagram legacy widget.
I’d like to see if I can connect to this because it has an option to add a title, whereas the ‘latest instagram posts’ widget does not.

Hello there,
Happy to help you with this.
Just to be sure we’re looking at the same Instagram widget, are you referring to this one: https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/instagram-widget/ ?
Also, when it comes to authorising – what are you seeing exactly?
Many thanks.

Hi, yes, that’s the same widget.
Through Appearance –> Customize –> Widgets, I am able to add the widget onto my sidebar. Seeing that the widget says “no preview available”, I click on it and hit “connect Instagram account”.
Another window pops up with an authorization account and I hit “allow”. My page reloads and I am taken back to the customization screen but I get the same message: “no preview available”. And then the cycle repeats of me trying to connect my account and the connection not going through (despite it working with the “latest post” Instagram widget, not the legacy one).
Thanks for your help.

Hello there,
It looks like this a new known issue we’ve recently come across.
We are working on a fix for this, but don’t have an ETA on when that will resolve.
To note, from what I’m seeing you are doing everything correctly.
I notice you’re also using a Latest Instagram Block as well – is there a reason to use the two different blocks/widgets?
Many thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for your response! I’ll keep an eye out to see when it’s resolved.
I had initially wanted to use the legacy Instagram block because you can add a title to it, but I figured out how to use a header + latest instagram block to achieve something similar.
I only kept the legacy widget so that troubleshooting could be done, but I’ll remove it now that I have an answer!
Thanks so much for your help.
