Instagram widget not working

My Instagram widget will not connect.

Hey there, have you tried these steps?

1) Log into your WordPress.com account.
2) Go to My Site(s) → Design → Customize.
3) Click into the “Widgets” section.
4) Expand the “Instagram” widget.
5) Click “Connect Instagram Account.”
6) Follow the prompts to reconnect your Instagram account.

Yes- I have tried all of those steps several times. Have checked the account- it works, has worked before. Not sure what is going on-

It gets stuck on this step:

5) Click “Connect Instagram Account.”

At what point exactly during that step does it get stuck? Immediately when you click the connection button, i.e. it doesn’t even start the connection process?

When you click that button a pop-up should appear to authorise the connection with your Instagram account. Does it only fail after you click the button in that pop-up to authorise the connection?

And can you tell us for which one of the sites in your account you’re trying to add this widget?

Hello-

I am adding this widget to:

https://wordpress.com/view/lorieneck.wordpress.com

It fails after I click the the button in that pop-up to authorise the connection.

I have tested and opened the IG account, it states there that IG and WordPress are linked. When I click, Connect-
The IG window pops up- Would you like to continue with your previous settings?

I say yes, then a new window opens and it’s blank.

Then back to WP and it says Connecting- nothing happens after that. It’s stuck there.

Okay. Please try authorising the widget at https://lorieneck.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php instead.

If that also doesn’t work, go to Instagram itself, and go to Settings ->Apps and Websites:

https://www.instagram.com/accounts/manage_access/

Remove WordPress there. That will completely sever the current connection between your Instagram and WordPress.com accounts. Then try reconnecting again, but using the WP-Admin link I gave here.

Hi- Thank you. I tried both of those steps, as a matter of fact, went through that same entire cycle last night X2.

Same results- still connecting. I am open to suggestions.

I am using a current Firefox browser not sure if something is off there.

Is your Instagram account public or private?

It could be your browser, yes. Are you using any anti-tracking add-ons in your browser? That could be blocking the cookies and data we need to exchange with Instagram to complete the authentication.

Try logging into WordPress.com and Instagram in a private browser window with all add-ons disabled, and see if that makes any difference.
