Instagram Widget won't Authorize access
-
I am trying to install the Instagram widget in my sidebar, and even though Instagram is showing that I’ve given access to WordPress, it won’t show on my website. The authorize access button stays. It just comes up saying, “This page is asking you to confirm that you want to leave – date you have entered may not be saved”. When I hit leave, it reloads my website and the customizer closes.
I’ve rebooted my computer, I’ve logged in and out of instagram and wordpress, and my instagram account is set to public.
My blog is http://www.jamesandkristenadopt.wordpress.com, and I’m using the Sketch theme. The sketch theme page shows a few other blogs that use it, and they are using the instagram widget, so it *should* work.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no “www” in your URL.
Are you logged into instagram when you do this or not?
Does anything here help you?

Thank you for responding so quickly.
I was actually just coming back to update that I figured out the problem (of course after I had posted this).Hopefully this can help someone else with the same issue (I saw this topic come up a few times in support but no one suggested this). You must place the widget and then hit save, before authorizing. Then hit authorize, so when it takes you away from the page and then back, your widget is still there. Ta-da, it works.

I’ve been doing the same thing the other commenter did but it still just takes me to a blank page…it never actually allows me to authorize.

That is too bad. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
Please post the following information for Staff:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/
(c) Exactly what any error reports you receive state. -
It’s not working for me either. I have tried on 2 different computers (one laptop- Win 7, one pc- Win XP) running Firefox 36. In both private and regular browsing (thinking the lack of cookies saved might have an effect).
I have the widget saved, if you look in my sidebar it shows up, says it needs to be configured. Every time I click on “Authorize Instagram Access” in the widget options it doesn’t even give me the “trying to leave page” popup any more, the entire window just goes blank. It doesn’t leave the page as the url doesn’t change. If I refresh the page it reloads the Customization page. I don’t have any popup blockers running.
No error reports. Just… nothing. The contents of the customization page go pure white. Longer than the screen itself (there’s still a scroll bar on the side). But nothing happens until you give up and refresh the page.
Before sending this I tried one last time. Deleted the widget. Saved. Added the widget. Saved. Then clicked “authorize”. Window went white. I just can’t get it to work.

This particular widget needs to be authorized using the WP admin widget page rather than the customizer. If you go to Appearance>Widgets from the WP Admin dashboard and authorize the widget from there, you’ll have much better luck.
