Install a Theme

  How to install a theme I bought via Envato Market. I have just paid for the Themeco’s X theme but cannot work out how to install it. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

  This is a WordPress.COM hosted blog. http://mgodfreygraphicdesignraphics.wordpress.com/ You are confusing themes for WordPress.COM blogs and themes for WordPress.ORG software installs if you want to use it on that site or any WordPress.COM hosted blog. You purchased a theme for the latter so know you can’t use any third party themes on a WordPress blog because they are for WordPress.ORG software installs only.

  The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes

  There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:
  upload any third party themes,
  create child themes,
  create our own themes,
  edit templates,
  create own own layouts,
  or use stylesheets from other themes.

  There is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.

  WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can create themes, upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database, etc. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.   If you want to stay with WordPress.com, you might be able to get a refund for the theme purchase, although I’m not sure if you would meet one of the allowable situations from Themeco’s store. If you can’t get the refund and/or you really want to use the theme, follow timethief’s link to WordPress.org’s hosting page.

  Thank you both. I now understand the error I was making. I will try for a refund and failing that will be hopping over to .org. Thanks again
