Install a theme – Divi
-
Hi I bought Divi a few days ago and every time I try to upload, it won’t let me upload the theme. I thought WP is free. Why it asks me to upload to premium WP and pay $300+@? I can’t even upload a theme that I bought?

Hi there,
If you wish to install a 3rd Party/custom theme, then you will need the Business Plan.
https://wordpress.com/pricingYou can find more details about the plans by visiting here: https://wordpress.com/pricing https://wordpress.com/support/plan-features
Hope this helps! :)

Hi @josephlaw3217,
WordPress software is free, but you need a server to host your site to have it online. There are many different options out there – WordPress.com being one of them. It is a shared environment, and we do not allow installing third-party themes or plugins for security reasons. Business sites undergo a series of structural changes to allow that, which is why you’d need a Business plan to install a theme like Divi.
While many of the plans offered by self-hosting companies may seem more affordable, you should keep in mind that many require you to purchase additional features “after-the-fact.” This can add up to more costs and additional time spent on site development.
For example, many base-level “self-hosting” or “self-managed” plans out there require you to be responsible for the site’s WordPress installation, security, and maintenance.
In contrast, all WordPress.com plans offer a “managed WordPress” hosting solution, meaning that we take care of the installation and maintenance for you on our secure platform. This also means that you get top-tier customer service and support.
We encourage you to take your time learning about the costs and benefits of self-hosting versus managed WordPress hosting. You can read more about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/.
