Install a WP theme from Envato

I’m following Envato directions on how to install one of their themes (Versatile – Responsive Multi-purpose WP Theme). They say to select ‘upload’ or ‘add new’ from the WP dashboard under Appearance->themes. There is no such choice on your dash board. Please help.

That’s not possible.
This is the wordpress.COM support forum. You are confusing wordpress.COM hosted blogs and wordpress.ORG installs on paid hosting.
You cannot upload any custom themes or third party themes, or create your own theme here at wordpress.COM, or use stylesheets from another theme. You can do those only on wordpress.ORG installs on paid hosting.
The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes

There is no upgrade you can buy here that changes that.WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. For a wordpress.ORG software install on paid hosting if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

You can’t upload a theme to WordPress.com. All available themes for your WordPress.com blog/site are found here:

Wow. Never realized there was a difference. Thanks for all that great information. I will be using SiteGround for a host and I have a template from Envato. If I change to WordPress.org will I be able to use WordPress from SiteGround or do I still have to use the WordPress.org host.
