Install BBpress Help
-
I found directions to install bbpress forum plugin. The first step says to go to your dashboard>plugins>add new. Well, I’m on my dashboard and plugins isn’t an option. So, can anyone help me here. There doesn’t seem to be a simple way to add a forum and the directions I found seem to not be able to be completed as early as step 1.
Here is my site. It’s just a small site for my condo association.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi wgsecretary,
The ability to install plugins is not an option on WordPress.com blogs. Plugins are only available on self-hosted WordPress sites or what is also known as WordPress.org. Those are sites that are hosted by a web hosting company, which the directions that you found were meant for.
Here is a support document that explains the difference between WordPress.com vs WordPress.org.

Thanks. I discovered this a few minutes ago. So, basically, we are wordpress.com do not have any options to easily create a simple forum. It seems that this is something that should really be an option, and it should be something simple to do.

For your WordPress.COM blog you have three free workaround forum options: http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/04/23/wordpress-com-forum-options/
One approach is to register a forum on the internet and then create a custom menu in your blog and include a custom link to the forum in it.
a custom link to the forum in it.
