@julialita, if your blog is hosted here at WordPress.com then there are only a limited number of pre-approved plugins available. If you’d like to install custom code or plugins yourself, you would need to switch to a self-hosted WordPress setup. See http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ to learn more about the differences.

Hi Im having the same issue. When I click on the plugin in configuration I get a message saying if I would like to upgrade from premium to Business. I dont want to. My question is if I switch to a self hosted WordPress setup (what does that even mean????) will it effect my website?

@polocaoimh, if you would like to install and mange the code on your own, including the ability to add plugins, then you would need to setup WordPress through a third party hosting provider. See http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ to learn more about the differences.
If you still have questions after that, reply back here and let me know and please also mention what plugin you were interested in or what your end goal is so I know what you’re aiming to do.

You are correct that is is not currently possible to install and manage custom code such as plugins yourself on WordPress.com.
However, what I was trying to point out is that WordPress.com has many plugins pre-installed. Did you check to see if what you would like to do with a plugin is already a feature here or not?

Hey! Thanks for your answer!
What I was wanting to do create a page where other people leave comments. Like not just the normal page where at the end visitors can leave a comment, but another postpage where visitors can make comments! Is that possible somehow?
Thank you -

@polocaoimh is correct that setting up a forum would require custom code. It’s always good to check on these things though!
There is a theme that might work in lieu of a forum, depending on your use case. It’s called P2 and it’s one of the few themes where comments are front and center, in an even more conversational style than usual. @julialita, here is more information about the theme if you’d like to check it out: https://wordpress.com/themes/p2-breathe/

I di check and no wordpress does not allow a forum
For your WordPress.COM blog you have three free workaround forum options. See here: http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2012/04/23/wordpress-com-forum-options/
One approach is to register a forum on the internet and then create a custom menu in your blog and include a custom link to the forum in it.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-custom-linksAnother is to create another wordpress.com hosted blog using the P2 Breathe theme https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/p2-breathe/ and and include a custom link to the new forum blog in your custom menu in your main blog.
The Tlk.io widget may be useful. It allows you to embed a web chat in your WordPress.COM hosted blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/tlk-io-widget/ There are no other chat options I know of that work on WordPress.COM blogs at this time.
