Install the theme on another site instead of the one I purchased it through
-
Hi,
I originally mistakenly installed and purchased Promenade on a free wordpress.com starter site and later realised that I wanted to use wordpress.ORG and be able to develop the site and use the features of your theme without having to subscribe to wordpress.com. Is it possible to install the theme on my wordpress.org site without re-purchasing it?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I am afraid that will not be possible. Themes for self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) sites are different and are available at https://wordpress.org/themes/
I tried searching for Promenade theme on that page and it does not look like it’s available there.
Themes bought on WordPress.com are meant for WordPress.com sites and will be linked to your WordPress.com account.
Here’s what I am doing to clarify this – I have added a tag “modlook” in this topic. One of the members from the WordPress.com staff/WordPress.com Happiness Engineers should be able to help you through this.

Thanks for your quick reply. I suppose that I am not entitled to a refund either if I uninstall the theme and close the account?

@epsommalevoicechoir we offer refunds for 30 days on themes. That said, you’ve paid for it once and don’t need to buy it again for as long as your site is here with us.

Unfortunately we can’t help any further with a refund since the purchase is now outside of the policy window.

OK, but am I able to use the theme on my wordpress.org site under the present licence if I close my wordpress.com site?

You’ll need to contact the theme author directly to see if they’d be willing to give you a credit for the theme.
