Install theme

  Dear Sir or Madam,

  I Have a problem loading up a new theme which is not from wordpress itself to my wordpress blog. I wonder if this is only possible when upgrading to my own domain? So, do I Need a self-hosted blog in order to upload a different theme to wordpress?

  Yes you need a self hosted WordPress site to upload your own theme.

  The only themes you can use on a free hosted WordPress.com blog are those found here > Appearance > Themes and showcased here > http://wordpress.com/themes/

  You cannot import a theme and use it on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. We do not have FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we not able to upload any third party themes.

  There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes what I stated above.

  If you want to use any third party theme or build your own theme then don’t waste any time here at all. Purchase web hosting http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install. http://wordpress.org/ Then move your .wordpress.com blog content into it http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/
