install third party theme

    I purchased a custom theme from ThemeForest and cannot install it on to my standard blog/web. Can I do this without purchasing the $99 upgrade?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    There is no upgrade that allows FTP access and the ability to upload any third party theme to a WordPress.com hosted blog. Return it and get a refund because you cannot use it on any WordPress.COM hosted blog.

    The only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs like your blog are the themes found here http://wordpress.com/themes/

    There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:

    upload any third party themes,
    create child themes,
    create our own themes,
    edit templates,
    create own own layouts,
    or use stylesheets from other themes.

    WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can create themes, upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database, etc. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.

    What about if I purchased a domain through word press and host it through a third party hosting such as godaddy? I try to upload a new theme but I get the response “File size too big. Files must be under 1500 KB in size.” How can I correct this issue?

    This is the WordPress.COM support forum. You need to post to the WordPress.ORG support forum for help with your site because it is not hosted by WordPress.COM.

    WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.
