I recently got a blog on wordpress and I am aware that I can edit my blog when I log in online via wordpress.com. However, to be able to use all the features of wordpress, do I need to install the program on my Mac? I am thinking that this would be easer… In case, can you recommend me a video guide on how to do this when you have already signed up for wordpress? BR,

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

Are you speaking about self-hosted, WordPress.org? To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. At WordPress.com, we provide hosting, support, and tons of features for blogs. Users also have the option to purchase a variety of upgrades to customize the look and feel of their blog. WordPress.org is a software for self-hosted sites. With WordPress.org, users are provided access to all backend files and can upload custom themes and plugins.

Check here to learn more about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

I see that you did create a WordPress.com site: makeupmebeautiful.com. You can edit this site by going to your Dashboard here:

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi;) Thank you for your reply. It is correct I am with wordpress.com. I am completely new and so I am a bit confused. It only if you are with wordpress.org you have to actually download the wordpress program?
I know I can edit it online via wordpress.com but wasnt sure if downloading the program would allow me to have more options etc…

    Hi there,

You would have more options by moving to the self-hosted WordPress.org. And yes, you would install WordPress.org and find your own hosting. We have a recommended list that I can provide you.

But please note that if you are new to blogging, I think it might be best to stay with WordPress.com for now. I would move to WordPress.org if you have specific things you want to do that aren’t available on WordPress.com (such as adding a specific plugin or adding your own theme, editing the HTML, etc.)

If there is something you want to do with your site specifically please let me know and I can see if it’s possible on WordPress.com. I recommend you look through our support site and forums to see what’s possible here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/
    http://forums.wordpress.com

If you’re just starting out with WordPress.com, I also recommend you go through our new user’s guide:

    Homepage

In 10 quick steps, you’ll learn about all the best and most useful features of WordPress.com, with lots of screenshots and videos.

    Cheers!

Hi again, with wordpress.com are you able to change the header more precisely the size of the letters in the header?

    Hi there,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. It looks like this may just be an issue with Google Chrome, as it looks fine in Mozilla Firefox and Safari. I have brought this back to our team, and we are working on it!

I’m so sorry for the inconvenience. We will update you as soon as possible!

    Thank you!
