Installed All in One SEO Plugin
-
I installed All in One SEO plugin in order to set up noindex on certain blog pages (categories, tags, 404s, etc.) I was able to noindex these pages using this plugin with checkbox options. I’d previously installed SEO for WordPress, which enabled fields to populate post titles and descriptions (which I’ve populated on every post). The new install (All in one) also has fields for title and description. If I do not populate these fields via All in One, will search engines recognize the ones that ARE populated via Seo for WordPress? Or will it see the empty fields of All in One?
Secondly, I was told by someone in Webmaster Central forums that my SEO Friendly titles were not being recognized by Google, and …they were right! We installed SEO For WordPress several years ago and I never noticed this before, but the default urls are the ones showing up. Any advice on how to make Google recognize the correct ones? I’m reading about redirects, and if that’s what I need to do, can anyone advise how to best execute these? And once I noindex all the categories, tags, etc., will that leave more opportunity for actual posts to be indexed? Seems like the bulk of what is indexed now is only categories, tags, etc. Thanks in advance for any guidance on this topic! For reference, blog is here: goo.gl/Znuj2v

Hi –
It looks like you’re working on nhproequip.com, correct? This site is not hosted on WordPress.com.
For help, you’ll want to contact your hosting provider or post in the community forums for self hosted WordPress sites at wordpress.org/support/

Thank you, lizkarkoski, for your reply. Yes, that is the correct URL. Though I’m not sure how our host company can help with my WordPress plugin questions? Is there a maybe a more appropriate WordPress forum I should be using for these types of questions? Again, I very much appreciate your reply.

Sorry – I can’t figure out how to edit / delete my last post so I will rewrite:

Having a lot of trouble finding out to get to a self hosted WordPress blog group. From what I can see there are no topics to drill down through to post a question. I see only a search field. When I type “self hosted,” there are very specific topics that come up, not the one I am asking about (plugins). Is there an easier way to do this? I did try to post my question again, but now not sure if I landed in the right spot. Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for your assistance.
