Not really an option with new computers having Windows 10 and Windows 7 losing support in a few years. WordPress needs to update their software not use a community blog to answer questions for them. And it seems, WordPress have no direct contact to discuss such issues so they will lose over the next few years as I am about to do and others will – change venue.

Hi there. Websites run in a browser, not in Windows, so Windows won’t make a website run slow, a browser would. Upgrading Windows could have messed up your browser. I’ve heard of this happening to many who’ve upgraded. Additionally, Windows 10 is still very bug-ridden, so you can expect to still have problems with it for quite some time. Specifically, Windows 10 has a lot of driver issues, so it could be your network card’s drivers are incompatible.
Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, and if that doesn’t make a difference completely uninstall and reinstall your browser. Also make sure your network settings in Windows are correct. A likely cause of the slow speed is that Windows 10 uses your bandwidth to download updates for other people on a peer-to-peer network. This feature is enabled by default, and especially if you have a slower connection can make a noticeable difference.

Thanks kokkieh for the insight to check out the browser used. Problem partially solved by using “Microsoft Edge” in Windows 10 and not “Internet Explorer”. WordPress works up to speed. However navigating Microsoft Edge to personalize is tough to remove the subjects and stuff that you are not interested in.

Ah, IE would be the culprit. There’s a reason Microsoft decided to drop it for Edge. However, keep in mind that Edge is also brand new, and thus likely to still have a few bugs.
If you’re up to trying a different browser, both Firefox and Chrome work very well, and they’re both completely compatible with WordPress.com. You can download either of them here: http://browsehappy.com/
