Installing a new plugin
-
Hi,
I would like to install new plugins (for example a calendar of the events concerning the team I am focusing on and a table) which I have recently downloaded on my sports website. The problem is that I can’t really find the page where I can upload these files. Is it beacause I’m still on a free version? Could you help me?
ThanksThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

While WordPress.com offers a lot of plugin functionality, you cannot add your own plugins or themes; this is only available on the self-hosted version of WordPress.org.
Plugin functionality offered by WordPress.com:

Perfect! It works.
Now I’ve installed and activated some new plugins, but how do I transform them into widgets?
Thank you -
Did you set up a self-hosted site for this or did you use some of the plugin functionality provided by WordPress.com? If you are using a self-hosted site, I recommend asking for further assistance on the WordPress.org support forums.

What do you mean with “self-hosted”.
I set up a blog on wordpress.com and then I’ve moved on altervista. -
Self-hosted WordPress is when you have somebody other than WordPress.com host your site, such as altervista. This allows you to fully customize everything-upload new themes and plugins, customize your CSS, and you are given FTP/database access.
Using a WordPress.com hosted site means you have some of the plugin functionality and hundreds of themes to choose from, but you cannot upload your own.
Here is a little more detail about the differences:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/I know it can be a little confusing. Does that make a little more sense now? If you are using a host such as altervista, you are using self-hosted WordPress, which is completely separate from WordPress.com. For this reason, please check out the forums on WordPress.org:

If you are unable to find an answer, you can create an account there and ask your own question, making sure to include as much information about what you are trying to do. I hope this helps.
