Installing a Theme

    Hello, how can I install a theme on the free version of wordpress? I’m currently developing a website for myself but am yet to purchase the domain and I need a way to install a theme I bought in order to continue. Thank you.

    Hi there,

    If you want to set up a free WordPress.com site, you will not be able to install WordPress themes downloaded elsewhere. On WordPress.com, installing external themes requires our Business plan:Pricing

    However, Free WordPress.com sites can choose from over 100 themes: Free Themes

    If you decide that you do want to use your existing domain name, you will need to set up Domain Mapping (included with every paid WordPress.com site plan):
