Installing External Themes

    Hi. I have purchased my own Theme and I would like to install in WP. Could you please let me know how can I do that and whether or not the customized theme is available just for Premium Member? Thank you. Cynthia

    Hi Cynthia –

    On WordPress.com we do not allow the upload of outside themes due to our shared environment. You’ll pick your theme from wordpress.com/themes/ Your plan does not change this.

    That said, there are 2 different versions of WordPress and what we do here at WordPress.com is different from the installation of WordPress that you use with a hosting company. This guide outlines those differences: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    With the installation of WordPress you can certainly use the theme that you purchased. This version of WordPress is much more hands on and has a greater learning curve. I suggest reading over the Getting Started Materials on the left hand side at wordpress.org/support/
