Installing Plugins

  I’m managing a site for a local NGO in South Africa. We bought the domain name about two weeks ago, and I have been trying to develop the site ever since.

  I can’t install any plugins though. The option is not available under the ‘Appearance’ tab and I can’t understand why. Does anyone know how to deal with this problem?

  Purchasing a domain name via a domain mapping upgrade changes nothing but the URL. It does not provide the ability to have FTP access and upload any plugins at all. This is clarified here > Important Notes Before Upgrading

  There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes this. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we bloggers cannot install any plugins. http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/ To have plugins you need to hire a web host and set up your own self hosted WordPress.org install. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
