Installing Themes

  Can I install a theme I downloaded from the internet onto my wordpress? I have watched tutorial videos, and it shows you go to Appearance>> Themes and at the top there are two tabs Manage and Install. Why doesn’t my WordPress have an Install Theme option?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Did WordPress change their site so you can no long upload outside themes, so you only can use theirs now?

  This is kind of confusing for me, any help would be wonderful

  Please be aware that there are different kinds of WordPress. Here is an article about the differences:
  http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  The site you are asking about is hosted for free, here on WordPress.COM
  so you will not be able to upload a theme you found on the internet. The tutorials you are reading are for WordPress.ORG and most of the information you glean from them does not apply to WordPress.COM

  If you need to use the theme you found, then you’ll need to pay for a host, buy a domain name, and software (WordPress.ORG software is free) to make it work.

  okay great that makes sense. It just confused me because on all of the tutorials it looked like the same dashboard but like a different version of it, but I guess that is why.

  Yes, that is a common confusion—those three little letters: c-o-m and o-r-g—which many people don’t notice and don’t realize that there are different kinds of WordPress.
