Installing widgets
-
Dear WordPress.com! I wish to install some widgets that can be downloaded from WordPress.org, however, I’m unable to set them up on my blog. I’ve checked under ‘Appearance’ and ‘Widgets’ but I can’t find the option to install or upload other widgets.
Is there a way to work out this issue?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards,

Hello,
As this is a multiuser blogging platform there are some code restrictions for security reasons. You cannot post any Javascript widgets or iframes on a wordpress.COM blog as the software will strip the code out.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/code/#javascriptIf you are reading anything that makes you think that bloggers can install plugins, custom themes or third party themes on sites hosted by wordpress.COM, then you are mistaken/misinformed. We have never had that ability. You are confusing wordpress.COM hosted blogs and wordpress.ORG installs on paid hosting.
There is no FTP access https://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/ and no blogger installed plugin capability is provided on wordpress.COM hosted sites for security and stability reasons. No upgrade changes that reality. Here at wordpress.COM we have built-in plugins. https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#uploading-custom-themesA self-hosted WordPress site may be what you need. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. Unlike wordpress.com, you can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct e-commerce and edit the database.
This guide will explain how to move your WordPress.com site to another hosting platform: Moving to a Self-Hosted WordPress Site
https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-to-a-self-hosted-wordpress-site/We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
(1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
(2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
As you need a site that is not hosted here, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
