Installing woocommerce plugin

  I am trying to add the woocommerce plugin which is supposed to be free, but when I open it, it states that I have to upgrade to get it. I have hosting from hostgator. What am I doing wrong?

  Hi there,

  WooCommerce can only be used on self-hosted WordPress.org sites at present. It doesn’t currently support any eCommerce options on WordPress.com, so if you want a fully-functional eCommerce website ; WordPress might not be ideal for you.

  Just for the record, there have been recent changes here https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ and WooCommerce can now be used at WordPress.com as long as you upgrade to the Business plan, (which now also gives you the ability to add plugins and external themes) https://wordpress.com/pricing/
