Installing WordPress Local (Mac) only getting "Index Of"?

Hello,
I’m not too technical when it comes to things like this, but I am followed this tutorial http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/how-to-install-wordpress-and-multisite-locally-on-macos-x-with-mamp/, which was very simple. When i type in local host, like it suggests at the end, I only get “index of/ and then WordPress link (because that is the name of my local server, I think). I repeated the steps multiple times, but I ended up with the same results.
Any help on this?
I’m going to be using a new theme on my website, and I have heard that this is the best way to edit it and test everything out without taking down or having an impact on my current site. Is this the best way?

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
