Installing WP into a non-WP Site

  I have a non-Wordpress site that is hosted on a company that has a nice WordPress installer. My existing site is written in asp.net and cannot be easily ported into WP. However, I want to install WP into a subdirectory of my domain something like this:

  http://www.domainname.com/wp-directory

  The reason that I want to do this is to host an RSS feed for blubrry, which I have heard has a nice WordPress plugin. So my questions are:

  1. Can I install into a non-WP site’s subdirectory w/o harming my original site?

  2. Do you think this WP install will function enough to handle blubrry’s podcasting plugin or whatever it is? (I’ve done some simple wp installs and been in the wordpress admin panel, but that’s about all I know.)

  If someone could point me in the right direction so I could get this going, I would really appreciate it. I want to get started right away!

  1) Yes – done all the time

  2) The WordPress software should be fine, but your host might have an issue

  However:

  The site you are asking about does not seem to be hosted on WordPress.COM so you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.

  Sorry, guys, I just read about Blubrry’s Powerpress plugin and it looks like they provide everything (whether you like it not I guess). Nm…

  Not a problem – good luck with your site

  The issue with Podcasting is the bandwidth – not all hosts like the bandwidth used
