Instant font size adjusting for readers on any WP blog
-
I find myself zooming in most of the time in most blogs just to see the words, but then the whole page zooms and it’s kind of a hassle to do that over and over. I saw this neat thing at (http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/media/will-e-book-pressures-send-hardcover-prices-soaring/19464290/) in where the reader has a choice to increase the font only in the text. I think a lot of people would benefit from this. Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We do not have any themes with this feature buit inot them. But we all have the ability to increase or decrease font size on any site. This post provides browser specific instructions for the keyboard shortcuts you can use to increase or decrease font (text) size on any site > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/19/how-to-change-font-text-size-in-your-browser/

I don’t know how many people are aware of the fact we can easily all increase or decrease the size of the fonts on any site we visit. However, if we all spread word that we can then more people will know that. Setting that aside, please feel free to make your suggestion to Staff. Here’s the link in case you wish to contact them directly. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ -
I agree with this, and on the grounds of accessibility. Anyone with bad eyesight is going to have a real problem with the default font size on WP blogs. On one blog that I think is mostly of interest to seniors, I manually increase the font size with inline CSS. But that’s a real hassle. Just a small button on each page would do it.

There’s nothing to this. See the keyboard shortcuts in the post I linked to above. I included multiple browsers. On any PC we simply hold down the CTRL key and click the + sign. Done!

Okay. Here’s an alternate solution. Giving the blogger the choice of changing the font size in the posts. At the top of the editing window. The way I do it now, I surround my text with a div and a style=”font-size: 140%” to get large-print text, but it would make it easier for the blogger to have a choice on what size to make it. I mean, if you’re in your fifties, and all your friends are in their fifties or sixties, then you would feel odd making a site in small type. You would look for a different blogging system. You know, aside from paying for the CSS upgrade. Just for the sake of accessibility, we should have a simple option for delivering large print to our users.

I am a visually impaired woman baby boomer. I posted to this thread for the purpose of providing information. I am astonished to find that others are not aware of keyboard shortcuts they can use on any website.
I am capable of holding down the CRTL key and clicking the + (plus) sign on any webasite anywhere on the internet and increasing the font size. I can decrease it by holding down the CRTL key and clicking the – (minus) key.
These days I find myself decreasing font sizes on far more sites than I ever did in the past. I do not care one way or the other if such a button is added to wordpress.com blogs.

I’m talking about a situation where you have a good idea what your target audience wants in terms of font size, and it’s different than WP allows for. I would want the ability to provide that for them up front, without requiring them to adjust their screen. The goal is to attract as many visitors as possible, and not to drive any away. I think this just makes good sense. No offense intended.

Not to worry I took no offence to what you posted at all. Best wishes with your blogging. :)
