Instapage Plugin
-
I decided to publish my Instapage content in WordPress. I downloaded the plugin but when I go to my WordPress dashboard I do not see a plugin link to choose new, as explained in instructions by Instapage. It is supposed to be under “Appearance” but it is not.
Please advise,
Fred

Hi there!
Third party plugins cannot be installed on WordPress.com sites. This is a security risk as we cannot vet all outside code and it puts our users, their sites, and our servers at risk.
Plugins are only usable on self-hosted WordPress.org sites.
I know the difference between .com and .org can get confusing, so here’s a breakdown of the benefits of each:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/Sometimes, even without the installation of a plugin, we can help you gain the function you’d like here at WordPress.com. If you let me know your goals, perhaps I can help further.
Please let me know! Cheers.

Hi Robin,
The Instapage plugin is a WordPress plugin. Please see the WordPress link. It is your dot org site but Instapage is saying we can use this to publish in wordpress.
Here’s instapage tutorial on how to use the wordpress plugin

I saw the comparison chart between ,org and ,com. Does this mean the premium wordpress.com account I just opened is not compatible with instapae?

Hi Fred!
The Instapage plugin is a WordPress plugin. Please see the WordPress link. It is your dot org site but Instapage is saying we can use this to publish in wordpress.
Here’s instapage tutorial on how to use the wordpress pluginThe Instapage plugin you’ve mentioned/linked is for self-hosted sites using WordPress.org. This is WordPress.com and so the same rules and policies do not apply.
I saw the comparison chart between ,org and ,com. Does this mean the premium wordpress.com account I just opened is not compatible with instapae?
I am so glad you saw that! Perfect. You are right — the Premium plan is not compatible on WordPress.org sites. However, you can still use your domain name (rapidrecoveryevents.com) as your self-hosted site name. If you’d like, I can maintain the custom domain name and private domain registration for you, but cancel and refund the remainder of your Premium plan.
If you prefer the ease of maintain your website here at WordPress.com, you might ask Instapage support if they can export your content into a file compatible with the import tool we have here:
If you choose to do this, you’d still have to use a theme that you find here:
If I can help further, let me know. Thanks!

Howdy Fred!
It looks like the Premium bundle and domain are still active on your site rapidrecoveryevents.wordpress.com. Are those the upgrades you were looking to cancel?
I’m happy to cancel them from your account for you. There are two main options moving forward:
If you still want to use your domain (rapidrecoveryevents.com), I can cancel the Premium bundle and send you a manual payment request for the cost of the domain ($26). You could still use your domain with your WordPress.com site or a self-hosted site if you want.
If you do not want the domain I can cancel everything.
Can you let me know how you would like to proceed?

Hi Jeremy,
After some thinking let’s go ahead and cancel everything. One good thing from this experience is that I need to move my current page to wordpress so I can have complete control over the design.
Thanks.

Hi Fred,
I removed the Premium bundle so you will not be charged for that moving forward. However, I left the domain active on your account as I wasn’t sure if you were planning on using this with your self-hosted site. Are you planning on using it elsewhere?
If so, please let me know. I’ll send a manual payment request for the cost of the domain and provide instructions on how to use this domain with a self-hosted site.
If not, I’ll cancel it from your account. In this case, the domain will be sent back to the registrar and will likely be unavailable for at least 4-6 weeks or so and may be purchased by someone else.
Let me know how you would like to proceed!

Hi Jeremy,
Since I plan to move my current site rapidrecovery.net to WordPress I will not be needing the rapidrecoveryevents domain.
Please cancel it.
Thanks,
Fred
