Instruction from re-seller that will host my site… please advise
-
Hello, I went ahead to start my webpage design, however, I’m already at my first hurdle. How do implement the following instruction from my re-seller/host? The two options came up on the initial create a webpage steps on wordpress:
Per instruction from Dathorn (re-seller)
Don’t use the wordpress option of TRANSFER YOUR DOMAIN or CONNECT YOUR DOMAIN, rather, “You won’t actually need either of those options. You’ll need to set the domain’s name servers to ours (ns1/ns2.gzo.com), create an account for the domain via WHM and then you can install WordPress directly via cPanel.”
How do I proceed?
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Hi @drumlank! This sounds like you’re setting up a copy of WordPress with another host. Here are a couple of articles that explain the difference. I’d recommend glancing at all three, then reading whichever one best fits your needs and time constraints:
– Short and sweet:
https://get.wp.comMore technical:
– https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/Blog article with FAQs:
– https://wordpress.com/go/website-building/wordpress-com-vs-wordpress-org/Given that, it sounds like whoever you’re working with is advising you to register a domain here with us, then point it to another host. Typically a hosting company will have its own domain registration process,* but if you really do just want to buy a domain here and host elsewhere, you can do that here: https://wordpress.com/domains
Then use these steps to point to their name servers:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/change-name-servers/OR …
You’d be more than welcome to host with us instead so we can provide more in-depth support! Your web designers can work with our services, or we have web designers here who can build a site for you. Let us know if you have questions!
* Personally speaking, if the hosting company does not have their own domain registration set up, you might want to host here anyway, or choose a hosting company that’s more established. OR, just be sure you have a solid 3rd party backup system in case anything goes wrong. (Jetpack Backups are a good choice.) I hope that helps!
