instructions don’t match my experience

    I want to change the background colour of my site. The instructions say to look for ‘Appearance’ on the left hand side. The only time this appears is if I’m creating a new site. There are no such page options on the draft site I’m trying to get a handle on. Also a thing came up saying I had selected a theme. I selected a blank page, how come it’s suddenly become a theme. Also whenever I try to access WordPress from Google to try and find the forums or help, my Esoteric page comes up taking back to where I started ???????? I don’t find this very intuitive … I need to get a site going very soon and I can’t see that WordPress is going to help me. Yes I want help changing background colors but the controls to do that don’t appear on my dashboard.

    Would you willing to tell me more about the site you’re looking to build? Perhaps I can offer some advice to help make things more intuitive?
