Instructions for contributors to create an account?

  I am starting a new blog for a group of university faculty, most of whom have never blogged before and do not have a WordPress account. I tested the invitation last night by sending one to myself, and discovered that clicking on the link in the invitation email brings you out to the WordPress “create an account” page — *but* (and this is what I’m worried about) it won’t let you create an account without also choosing a blog name.

  I’m sure creating a blog name would confuse some of the folks I’m trying to invite. Can you tell me how my contributors can create an account without choosing a blog name? And do you have any standard instructions that I can send to contributors?

  The signup screen does have an option to create *just* a username, without the need to create a blog:

  Unfortunately, that can’t be directly worked into the invitation process. The invited user will have to make the decision on their own.
