Instructions for Moving WordPress Site Not Working for Me
-
So I backed up my wordpress site before making major changes, but now I can’t seem to copy my old one back. The WordPress official instructions on this is the following:
If database and URL remains the same, you can move by just copying your files and database.
I tried copying everything and the site crashed. I don’t know which files to move over.
Thanks for any help! I am really falling behind!

Are you trying to import a site into WordPress.com or are you moving a site between other hosting providers? Please note that we can only provide support for sites on (or being imported to) WordPress.com.
What are the addresses of the source site (your export) and your destination site (your import)?

I was trying to restore an entire older wordpress install on top of a new install on the same server, source and destination identical. I just had an older version I backed up, and was trying to restore it by copying everything on top of a fresh WordPress install. It didn’t work.
I gave up trying to figure this out and am building it from scratch, but I could still use some help understanding where some resources are stored. For instance, where is the data stored in Appearances > Fulltheme (aka Full Theme) Options? Some of the data storage locations of WordPress are pretty confusing to me.

You’ve reached support for sites hosted on WordPress.com. It sounds like you are working with sites hosted elsewhere and using the software available at WordPress.org. You will have better luck posting your questions at the WordPress.org forums, http://wordpress.org/support/
Please refer to http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ for the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
