Integrate WordPress with Sharepoint?

I am the Editor-in-Chief of my student newspaper. We are going to create a website for the paper this summer (yes, we still don’t have one).

I am intimately familiar with WordPress and am aware that it is the obvious platform on which to build our new website.

Problem is: My school insists that we build the site with Sharepoint. Apparently this is what they are used to and every piece of computer technology on campus is Microsoft.

Question is: Is there a way to use WordPress “on top” of Sharepoint? Can I integrate the WordPress CMS with Sharepoint so my writers can update the site without having to learn Sharepoint (which is very complicated and not meant for this type of website)?

If not, is there any way around this problem that would allow me to use WordPress but remain in line with the school’s desire to host the site with the campus servers?

Oh, and you can ignore the “The blog I need help with…” line. Forgot to remove it.

Since you will be using the self-hosted version of wordpress, you need to inquire over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where it is supported. We here at wordpress.com would have no clue really. I do know you can install WordPress on MS IIS servers if they are configured correctly, but I have my doubts about getting it to work on sharepoint, but that is a guess. Talk with the people a the .ORG forums.
