integrating a WordPress blog into an existing HTML site
-
I have seen similar topics being discussed before but I have a very specific question here.
I already have an HTML/CSS based website and I wam pretty happy with it, I dont want to change it. All I need is to integrate a WordPress blog into my website. so basically under the “blog” page on my website I want the content of the WordPress blog but I still want to keep the original header and everything else as it is. is there a way to just pull the content of the blog and display it on an HTML page? Any possible way.. frames, feeds, anything you can think of..thank you
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, iframes will work, although they look old-fashioned. Feeds will also work, although there will be no video or other media in your feeds. But your best bet really from an SEO and management standpoint is to install software from WordPress.ORG in your website and use that for a blog. You can easily import all the contents of your blog here over to that new blog.

raincoaster is 100% correct. iframes look like crap! If you want a professional looking site then get a WordPress.org install – don’t use an iframe.

hey
thanks for the answer. the problem is then I would have to use one of the WordPress templates which means it wont look the same as my existing site. I want to be able to keep my current design, the header, the menu buttons etc and just use the content (blog entries) from workdpress. and keep in mind I have no knowledge of wordpress coding…

You are using the free hoste WordPress.COM version of the Comet theme on the blog linked to your username here. Well, there is a WordPress.org version of that theme here > http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/search.php?q=Comet

You hire a web host.
You set up a WordPress.org install.
You uplaod the version of the Comet theme for WordPress.org.
You upload any plgins you need.
You equip the website in question with the ability to draw from the WordPress.com blog’s RSS feed.Every wordpress blog has an RSS feed for comments and for posts (entries). This is the URL for the feed for your blog’s posts (entries):
http://onurkurtic.wordpress.com/feed/This is the URL for the feed for your blog’s comments:
http://onurkurtic.wordpress.com/comments/feed/We do not provide support for installing the capacity on your website to draw the RSS feed from your blog. All support must come form http://wordpress.org/support/
On your webiste you will have to write something in PHP or javascript to do that. Here are a couple options:

You go to Tools->Export on your dashboard and export your existing blog contents. Then on your new blog you go to Tools->Import and pull it in. Nothing could be simpler. It’s a good idea to then set your .COM blog to private, so search engines don’t see duplicated content and penalize you.
