Integrating a WordPress Blog into My Existing Website: A Non-Transfer Approach
-
I have a website outside of WordPress, and I would like to add a blog to it. I don’t want to transfer the entire website to WordPress but instead add a subpage for the blog created in WordPress. I want to keep my website address and have my blog at www.(my-website).pl/blog. I don’t want the blog to be at a different address. Is it possible?
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Here’s how you can integrate a WordPress.com blog with your existing website:
- Create a WordPress.com Blog:
- Sign up for a WordPress.com account and create a new blog. You’ll select a temporary WordPress.com domain for this blog initially.
- Mapping a Subdomain:
- Since WordPress.com does not support installing a blog in a subdirectory (like http://www.your-website.pl/blog), the recommended approach is to use a subdomain, such as blog.your-website.pl.
- In your website’s DNS settings (managed by your domain registrar or hosting provider), create a CNAME record for the subdomain (e.g., blog) pointing to your WordPress.com blog.
- Domain Mapping on WordPress.com:
- In your WordPress.com dashboard, go to ‘Manage’ -> ‘Domains’, and select ‘Add a domain to this site’.
- Choose the option to map an existing domain, and enter the subdomain you created (e.g., blog.your-website.pl).
- Follow the instructions to complete the domain mapping process. This might include verifying ownership of the domain and updating DNS settings.
- Customize the WordPress.com Blog:
- Customize your WordPress.com blog to match the design and feel of your main website as closely as possible using themes and customization options available on WordPress.com.
- Linking to Your Main Website:
- Add navigation links on both your main website and WordPress.com blog to ensure easy navigation for your visitors between your site and the blog.
- Limitations and Considerations:
- WordPress.com has certain limitations in terms of themes and plugins compared to a self-hosted WordPress.org site.
- Ensure that the subdomain approach aligns with your SEO strategy. Subdomains are typically treated as separate entities by search engines.
By using a subdomain like blog.your-website.pl, you can effectively integrate a WordPress.com blog with your existing website while maintaining a cohesive online presence. Remember to regularly update both your main site and the blog to provide a seamless user experience.

Hi there,
Yes, it is indeed possible to integrate a WordPress.com-hosted blog with your current website. However, it’s important to note that on WordPress.com, we support connecting your blog as a subdomain, like blog.my-website.com, rather than as a subdirectory like my-website.pl/blog. This method is the only one supported for integrating blogs hosted on WordPress.com with external websites.
To get started with this, you can find detailed guidance and step-by-step instructions on how to connect your blog as a subdomain at this link: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-subdomain/
Also, I’d like to mention that this feature is included in all of our paid plans. So, you’ll have access to a range of tools and features to enhance your blogging experience, along with the ability to integrate it as a subdomain on your existing website.
