Integrating WordPress with Square

Hello, I already have a website and domain name that is hosted on Godaddy. I have been asked by my developer to establish a WordPress site to integrate with Square Merchant services. I do not wish to change registrars. Do I have to the map my domain as instructed below? What does a change in DNS mean and involve? Thank you in advance.

    Andre

Map your domain without moving it from your current registrar.
Domain registration and billing will remain at your current provider
Manage some domain settings at your current provider and some at WordPress.com
Requires changes to the domain’s DNS
Included in paid plans, but registration costs at your current provider still apply

  • Hi Andre,

Do you want to host the WordPress site here with us on WordPress.com? Or do you want to host it on your existing hosting plan at GoDaddy?

If you want to host it at GoDaddy, then your site has nothing to do with WordPress.com, and you don’t need any upgrades from us. In that case you’ll be installing the open source version of WordPress, made on WordPress.org, on GoDaddy’s servers, and you’ll need to contact GoDaddy support to help you with that.

If you want to host the site with us, first create a new WordPress.com site at https://wordpress.com/start/site/

To map a domain to this site requires any of our paid plans, but if you want to use a Square payment gateway plugin, you’ll need our Business Plan.

You can find details on how domain mapping works, including the required DNS changes, here:
