  Did you notice that at the bottom of the page you reference that it says, An Automattic Thingamagig? Automattic is the parent company of wordpress and the reason we have comment threading, and comment notification is because wordpress (Automattic) now owns intense debate.

  And you as a blog owner can already get notification of new comments by email although you cannot post comments by email. Perhaps that is coming down the road.

  For the most part, the abilities of intense debate are now part of wordpress.COM.

  Thanks for the info. I knew about threaded comments but a while ago I was on a .org version website and when I registered for intense debate it had a ton of features that I haven’t seen yet here on .com.

  Also I did notice the automattic ownership, that’s what prompted me to ask.

  I expect (pure speculation) more features of intense debate will find there way here, it is just that many of them may take quite a bit of work to implement so I expect we will see a little at a time.
