Interface

There appear to be two interfaces, an old one and what you call – in Dutch and now translated- the ‘improved message experience. I prefer the old one, but can find no way to change back to it!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi Paul,

The classic dashboard is still available, but it’s not the default one. You can access it from Dashboard > WP Admin.

Alternatively, you can also append /wp-admin to your domain to directly go there:

    ehtis,

Thanks. the second works. The first doesn’t. I go to wp admin but cannot find a button for classic.

…and if I choose the pencil to begin a new blog in WP Admin, I get beep beep boop and the new interface.

  • ‘WP Admin’ is actually the classic (old) dashboard.

Here’s how you can get to it from your new dashboard:

Yes, clicking that pencil button will open the new editor. To create posts in the old editor, open WP Admin and on the left sidebar, go to Posts > Add New.

I don’t suppose there’s a way to opt out of the new editor altogether. I don’t like it at all. It’s very cumbersome to use, and it is difficult to tag and categorize posts using it. I don’t see any improvements in it over the old editor. In fact, I think the old editor is still superior to it. Please, is there a way to opt out of using it so I don’t have to be constantly having to work around it? It is such a pain having to use the Columbus method (getting to the East by sailing west) to work my way around past it to get to the old editor again by always having to go through WP admin. I suppose I should stop griping and just be grateful you kept the old editor at all instead of just arbitrarily discarding it in favor of the new “improved” one. I just resent not having a choice, and having something thrust at me and being told I’m going to like it.

The advice given to me works great!
