Interface Language
-
For the last few days, I can’t change the interface language through the old dashboard, as I always did. And I can’t use the new dashboard. Can someone help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you tried using these links I provide below?
> Dashboard > Settings > General
http://lweaveswords.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.phpLanguage this blog is primarily written in.
You can also modify the interface language in your profile.

Thanks! I added the tag. Just to be clear – it’s the second link you provided that has stopped working.
And I am subscribed :-) -
Hi there!
it’s the second link you provided that has stopped working.
What happens when you try to access it, please? Do you get any error message? If so, please paste it here.
And I can’t use the new dashboard.
Also, what’s preventing you from using it, please? If it returns an error message, also paste it here.
Meanwhile, things to try:
1. Update Firefox to the most recent version.
2. Clear browser’s cache and reload the page.
3. Turn off browser’s extensions, restart browser and try again.
3. Try from a different browser.
4. Try from a different computer/device and from a different network.
Cheers! -
Hi there yourself :-) and thanks for getting back to me.
I’m sorry. It does not return a message but simply stays the same. Meaning – I change the language to En – English, it seems to save it, but comes back and stays in Hebrew.
New dashboard – a matter of preference. If memory serves me right, it is lacking a button I need while editing. The language switch is already a bit of a hassle. But one I can live with, as I chose to blog bilingually. To add a switch between dashboards as well, just for this button, is a bit more of a hassle. And I’d rather not.
Thanks again and I hope you can help me stay with the old dashboard.

I just ran a test here and I could perform those changes both via WP Admin dashboard or the new one – it’s called Calypso, BTW. :)
Did you try any of the suggestions I made before?

Sorry, which button are you talking about, please?

I’m truly sorry, I didn’t see your suggestions till just now.
So: I updated FF to latest; I don’t remember what clearing cash means (one of the reasons I switched to WP in the first place was the no-need to remember that, which was almost daily elsewhere), but was brave enough to delete todays’ history; as far as I know I have no extensions; I do know I have no other device to try it on; I re-booted the whole computer. It’s still stuck on Hebrew. The button that is missing with the Calypso (and I just checked that again) is the one that enables me to change RTL to LTR between paragraphs in the same post. (Sorry, I could tell you its’ name in Hebrew, not having it there means I can’t point to it so that it’ll tell me its’ name in English).
Sorry for being such a bother…

No need to worry, that’s fine! :)

I changed it to English for you. Please try to use it and change it back to Hebrew. Let me know if it works this time.

Yes, that’s right, the buttons isn’t available in Calypso.

Oh, I was so happy to see it back to English again, as I’m used to… but then, following your suggestion to switch again (which will have happened as soon as I wanted to write a new post), I found that now I’m stuck on en-English…
And unfortunately I do need to be writing in Hebrew… -
Oh, no! That must be annoying. I’m sorry you are having this issue! I changed it back to Hebrew for you, but I’m asking our developers to have a look at it, though my hunch is that this is a browser issue as I’m able to change the language normally. Could you try it from another browser or computer too?
However, if you are always changing the language just for the button, you can change the text orientation by adding the following html attribute for left to right text:
dir="ltr"And this to right to left:
dir="rtl"Example:
No worries, dear :-) It was a good time for problems on-line for me, when my off-line life got hectic. I’m just sorry I can’t be better at adapting suggestions. I use only FF…
I would love a look at it, that will get things back to normal, but there’s really no rush. As long as I can publish, and thanks for that :-), I’m good.
The HTML… well, another issue that is a sort of a past-trauma. I use what I need, but don’t really want to need to use any more of it. Thanks for the idea, though. I’m sure it’ll still be there if I change my mind.
Meantime, wishing you a good week :-) -
I asked our developers to take a look but it would be really important that you could try to do it from a different browser or computer or network as it would eliminate these as the source of the problem you face.
Thanks! I wish you a good week too! :) -
Hey there!
I’ve got some good news for you. It was indeed a bug and our team is working on it to fix it. Meanwhile the workaround is to change UI language via Calypso (the new blue panel) here:https://wordpress.com/me/account
If you go back to the classic dashboard, you’ll need to refresh the page to make it reflect the change, but it is working. You may keep editing posts from that area.
Once I get updates on this bug status, I’ll share them with you here!
Cheers!

Please go ahead and test it!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
It works, it’s back to normal. Thank you, and the team too :-) -
