Intergalactic Header Theme Problem
-
I’m trying to customize the theme “Intergalactic”, and the recommended header image size is 1440×960. However, when I upload an image of this exact size, it shows stretched and pixelized. What am I doing wrong? Plus, the size is all wrong for what the website header should look like: shouldn’t it be much wider in proportion to it’s height?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This blog http://sprinklewithsage.wordpress.com/ is wearing the Suburbia theme.
I’m sorry but we cannot provide accurate answers to any blogger who fails to provide the exact URL starting with http:// for the exact blog they refer to so we can verify where it is hosted. Please do that now.

That is my blog, it’s wearing Suburbia precisely because I cannot adequately customize Intergalactic.

Hi hollabaker – just to confirm, did you try a header image that is 1440px wide by 960px tall?
Would you be able to link to the specific image you used as the Intergalactic header in your media library so I can have a look and test with it? You can grab its link from the URL field in the media library and paste it here.

Thanks for providing a link to your header image. I’ve done some testing and spoken with the theme developer and I’ll try to explain what’s going on. :-)
The header in Intergalactic is displayed as a background image, which stretches in proportion to the browser window size. This means that when your browser is wider than 1440px, the header image may appear a little pixillated because it’s being stretched out to fit the entire width of the browser. The theme also applies some opacity on top of the background image, so it becomes a little translucent.
The reason the recommended height is 960px is in case someone has a long Site Title, the header background image will be tall enough to accommodate it.
Because of the way this theme’s header is displayed, it works best with decorative images that serve as a background against your site title and tagline, rather than an image that includes any text.
We may also add a Site Logo option to this theme in the future.
I hope this helps explain things, just let me know if you have any other questions.

I actually suspected that when I tested it again a little while ago! Thanks for your work on this problem, I really appreciate it.
