Intergalactic theme: can I change the look of a sticky post?

    Hi. I am using the Intergalactic 2 theme and on my home page and each category page I would like to have one sticky post.

    I know how to mark a post as sticky and that works, but the post is a summary of the entire thing and has a Read More -> box following it.

    These are brief posts and I would like:
    1. for the entire post to appear, so you don’t have to click a link to read the rest
    2. for there to be no Read more link.

    Is this possible?

    Hi @collectingtrek ,

    The quick answer is, I don’t believe you can achieve what you want with the theme Intergalactic 2 unless you overwrite some of the CSS. CSS editing is only available to some paid plans. Are you on a paid plan or a free plan? If you’re on a paid plan, then you can contact staff directly at the following link and they should be able to help you.

    If you are on the free plan, then I believe you would have to change to a different theme that allows that functionality. (I believe the theme Shoreditch does.)

    Thank you for the reply. I only saw it now. I decided to go with a different theme, but the issue is the same. I do have access to CSS with my account but I am not sure this issue is worth the work for me and the risk of messing up my site.

    Don’t worry, nothing should mess up irreversibly when using CSS! But I’m afraid that CSS can’t be used to turn the excerpts of posts which are currently appearing on your front page into full length posts. :(

    Hi @collectingtrek . I’ve looked into your situation a bit more since my first answer.

    Some themes are designed to show the entire post on the top page, such as the theme Independent Publisher 2 or Penscratch 2. Other themes are designed to show just a portion, such as in Intergalactic 2 and your current theme Baskerville 2. This feature is pre-determined by the theme to best match other features adopted by that theme.

    Theoretically, you could perhaps create a custom theme on the Business plan to get what you are looking for. But practically, I think finding a theme that works closest to what you want would be easier. As @torres126 said,

    CSS can’t be used to turn the excerpts of posts which are currently appearing on your front page into full length posts. :(

    Hey. Thank you both for the replies. I very much appreciate your time. I am new at this, and I’ve decided to lower my customization expectations and concentrate on the content.
