Internal links
-
Hi, if I want to include an internal link to an internal page eg. links on my Services page behind the 3 photos to the secondary pages where there is more information, how should I do this correctly?
If I were to export the site to a 3rd party host, how can I ensure the hyperlinks will get adjusted automatically and not still show as legacy wordpress.com/ links?
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
If you add a new domain you will be able to select which domain is the primary domain, WordPress will automatically update your internal links, but this is something I would double check this is the case once a new domain is in place.
WordPress.com sites can only be hosted by WordPress themselves, you can take your data with you, but not the whole site.
Can I just double check your domain name? Sounds like you could be using the self-hosted version of WordPress.

The current domain is:
http://aviationsme.wordpress.com/Not sure what you mean by not taking the whole site.
I understood that as I am using a free theme, then if I ever I wish to, I am able to export the entire site, as per its current setup under this free theme, to a completely separate domain hosted by an independent 3rd party who supports the WordPress installation … so it would look exactly the same on the 3rd party site.
Can you please confirm this is the case?
Thanks.

By the way, I’m currently using the free ‘Twenty Seventeen’ theme. My understanding was that if I wanted to I can use that theme on a self-hosted site elsewhere but I don’t know how to include it in a full export. Can you please advise how to achieve this outcome, thanks.

HI there,
Thanks for confirming the domain name.
Its possible to move to a self hosted version of WordPress. This is a really useful tutorial on how to do it: https://move.wordpress.com/
But the basic idea is you will need to set up WordPress with another hosting provider, then install the same theme (Twenty Seventeen is pre installed into WordPress.org installations), then import your data that you have exported from WordPress.com
The above link should be able to talk you through the process step by step.
Any other questions please let me know :)
