Internal news site
-
I would like to build a website for internal use with in my organization to share news articles and pdf documents. It would be a password protected site with unique user logins for the 15 members of my team.
I would like it to have a “newspaper” look but not to have to manually create layouts as the look and feel is secondary to the content. I would also like for all the users to be able add content and tag articles with a series of relevant tags and to make the content filterable by tag.
My question 1. is can WordPress do this? 2. Would it be possible for the site to require limited effort once set up beyond adding context (i.e. dragging links, pasting text, or uploading pdf). 3. I have basic computer skills but no WordPress knowledge – would this be relatively easy to do or would I be advised to hire a consultant for the project.

Hi there!
Yes, you’ll be able to create a site like this on WordPress.com.
One way to achieve this would be to create a private site and add the members of your team as editors so that they can add and manage content. You could try out the P2 theme, which allows you to add content directly from the front-end, without the need to enter the editor:
https://wordpress.com/theme/p2-breathe/There’s also a more complex way to do this, as explained here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/tutorials/build-a-membership-website-tutorial/You can purchase any plan you’d like to try and, if you’re not happy, you can cancel and obtain a refund within the first 30 days. Bear in mind that if you register a custom domain, you could only opt for a full refund during the first 96 hours. After that time, we could only refund the cost of the plan minus the cost of the domain.
