Internal Server Error

We are getting an internal server error when trying to edit our page with Colibri. We have disabled all plug-ins and still having an issue.

  • I’m sorry you’re having trouble! Our staff can’t help since your site is not hosted here, but this may help you sort out the issue with your copy of the software:

My team is considering moving our site to your managed hosting services but we have a few questions regarding how we go about doing this without losing our current content? Will moving our site impact our use of plugins or anything like that? What are the risks / will anything need to be reconfigured? We are fairly new to WordPress which is why we have so many questions. Thanks!

also, this account is not linked to my site somehow… I’m not sure how to do that either

  • Hello there,

Many thanks for reaching back out.

My team is considering moving our site to your managed hosting services but we have a few questions regarding how we go about doing this without losing our current content?

It’s possible to move the site from self-hosted WordPress, without affecting the live site with the use of this migration tool here: https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/

The site here at WordPress.com would be on a default .WordPress.com domain (i.e. example.WordPress.com).

What are the risks / will anything need to be reconfigured?

In this instance, the only real risk here is the internal server issue you’re facing with the current site.

Ideally, that would need to be fixed prior to any form of migration, otherwise you could be moving the problem from one place to another.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for getting back to me.

We have resolved the internal server error, so that shouldn’t be an issue with migration.

Also, we are currently hosting on AWS – will that affect migration to hosting with WordPress?

Lastly, is migration only possible with business accounts or higher? We will only be using personal.

    Thanks!

It doesn’t matter where you’re hosted now – you should be able to migrate from one WordPress site to another without any trouble.

However, if your site relies on plugins and/or you have a custom theme, you would need to upgrade to the Business plan which will allow you to install plugins and your custom theme. If you don’t need to keep your plugins or custom theme, the Personal plan would suffice.

I hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.
