  When posting a blog – sometimes I want to add clip art or images that I have not created but have downloaded from the web…. what is the legal standing on this – is it covered by any copywright issues or do I have to acknowledge where it came from…

  clip art is difficult to know the origins

  As long as the clipart is covered by a license that makes it legal for you to use, you can upload it like any other image.

  thanks for this but how do you know if an image is covered by a licence?

  If I use Microsoft Word and search for a clip art image is it then covered by Microsoft’s licence?

  If the usage license is not clearly stated, then it’s assumed that its copyrighted and not fair to us.

  http://www.openclipart.org/ is one of the largest public domain clip art libraries around. You should be able to find what you need there.
